Goodwood Festival of Speed 23-26 June 2016

8 June 2016

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is an annual hill climb featuring historic motor racing vehicles held in the grounds of Goodwood House, West Sussex, England on June 23th / 26th 2016; the event is scheduled to avoid clashing with the Formula One season, enabling fans to see F1 machines as well as cars and motorbikes from motor racing history to climb the hill.

For the thrill of it

An intoxicating mix of cars, stars and motorsport royalty come together over four superb days for the Festival of Speed. The largest event of its kind in the world, the Festival gathers together the planet’s rarest and most glamorous cars.

In the summer of 1936, Freddie March - the 9th Duke of Richmond - hosted a private hillclimb for the Lancia Car Club in the grounds of Goodwood House. In 1993, his grandson, the present Earl of March hosted his own Hillclimb and created the Festival of Speed. It all kicks off with Press & Preview Day on Thursday for the latest road cars, while the rest of the weekend sees heritage cars taking on the 1.16 mile Hillclimb, which challenges the world's greatest drivers and riders, including today's Formula 1 and Moto GP stars

The Hillclimb is the main event, but go beyond this and you will find a range of cars, bikes and other automotive entertainment to please any motorsport enthusiast

'Full Throttle - The Endless Pursuit of Power'

The theme for this year’s Festival of Speed will be ‘Full Throttle – The Endless Pursuit of Power’. Each year we find a new way of exploring the thrilling past, present and future of the automotive world – take a look behind the curtain of what we have planned in 2016.

Speed reigns supreme

The main feature of the Festival is the Hillclimb, which hosts collections of rare and priceless cars going up one by one to the delight of fans in the Grandstands and along the trackside. These cars, when not on the Hillclimb, can be found in the paddocks and all guests can get up close to them.

Beyond the Hillclimb, we welcome the world's biggest car manufacturers each year, who attempt to outdo each other with ever more elaborate stands, activities and star appearances. All this adds up to a spectacular fun-filled day. There are a host of other activities to explore too.
